Our students have embraced opportunities to learn, create, and discover, supported by dedicated educators and families. As we transition into summer, we celebrate the progress made and the strong sense of community that continues to thrive.

MAY+JUNE HIGHLIGHTS

Looking back on the season—From hands-on workshops and cultural celebrations to moments on the field, on stage, and in the classroom, our students have embraced every opportunity to grow, connect, and thrive as the school year comes to a close.

Spelling Bee
Our young learners showcased their growing language skills and confidence during this year’s Spelling Bee, embracing the challenge with focus and enthusiasm.

Recognizing the Heart of Our School
In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Day, we recognize our dedicated educators for the care, commitment, and inspiration they bring to their classrooms each day.

Your impact is lasting, and your efforts are deeply appreciated.

Learning Sustainability Through Vermicomposting
The Grade 1 classroom welcomed a special visit from Cathy’s Crawly Composters to explore the fascinating world of vermicomposting!

As part of their theme unit on the 4Rs, students have been learning about the impact we have on our planet and the importance of reducing waste. They discovered how red wiggler worms help break down food scraps and turn them into nutrient-rich compost.

To extend the learning, the class now has its very own mini vermicomposting bin, giving students the opportunity to observe firsthand how worms digest different foods and help the environment in the process!

Connecting Curriculum Through Culture: A Grade 5 Experience
On May 7, our Grade 5 students immersed themselves in Japanese culture during their visit to the Japanese Cultural Centre! Through hands-on experiences and engaging activities, students created meaningful connections between concepts explored in their theme unit and traditional Japanese art forms and customs. A day full of learning, creativity, and cultural discovery!

U12 Soccer Tournament
Our U12 team demonstrated teamwork, perseverance, and school spirit as they participated in a spirited soccer tournament.

From Words to Wildlife: Our Animal Adoption Project
Our Grade 4 French students became wildlife experts and persuasive campaigners during their Animal Adoption Project! Students researched exotic animals, wrote simple sentences in French using new vocabulary and adjectives, and presented creative campaigns to convince their families to adopt their chosen animal!

Making Music, Making Memories
P.A.C.E. Elementary choirs, ukulele, and instrumental band students from Grades 1–8 had an incredible time preparing for their performance at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts! From rehearsals filled with laughter to the excitement of taking the stage, it was a joyful celebration of music and talent.

Teamwork and Determination Lead the Way!
On May 19, our Grade 7/8 soccer team had a fantastic showing! They played incredibly well throughout the round robin, with every game being closely contested — except for one standout 4–0 win! The team advanced to the playoffs and fought hard in a heartfelt 1–0 loss.

Congratulations to our athletes on an excellent tournament and a strong display of teamwork, determination, and school spirit!

Celebrating Musical Excellence at Canada’s Wonderland
On Wednesday, May 27, P.A.C.E. music students performed live at Canada’s Wonderland’s Festival of Music!  Our Grade 7 and 8 ensembles, along with members of the P.A.C.E. Concert Band, were adjudicated by Laura Lee Matthie, a respected music educator, board member of the Coalition for Music Education, and leader with the Ontario Music Educators’ Association.

Laura Lee shared positive feedback and expressed how impressed she was to see and hear our elementary students perform such challenging and engaging repertoire. She also joined our students on stage to conduct them, helping enhance their collective and individual musicianship through attention to articulation, intonation, rhythm, and more. Congratulations to our students on another memorable and successful performance!

MARCH+APRIL HIGHLIGHTS

Here’s what we’ve been up to—From engaging Mad Material workshops, to a restorative March Break, to our inspiring P.A.C.E. Cultural Event, our students continue to grow, connect, and thrive.

March Break: Renew & Refocus
From March 9–20, our school community took a well-deserved March Break—an important time to rest, reset, and recharge after a busy winter term. This pause allowed students and staff to return feeling refreshed, re-energized, and ready to take on the remainder of the school year with focus and enthusiasm.

Unity in Diversity
The P.A.C.E. Cultural Event for Grades 6–8 brought our school community together to celebrate culture, identity, and inclusion. Through student participation and shared experiences, the event encouraged curiosity, respect, and a strong sense of belonging.

Mad Materials & Spectacular Structures Workshop
During our Mad Materials & Spectacular Structures workshop, our Grade 1 students became architects for the day! They solved the riddle of “Amazing Objects” and used all their senses to observe and track changes in different slime recipes. Students explored the differences between natural and human-made structures while learning why choosing the right materials is so important when building. From constructing arches to designing working sailboats, our young architects put their creativity, skills, and scientific thinking to the test. It was an exciting day of discovery, experimentation, and hands-on learning!

Poetry, Passion & Achievement
On March 24th , 6 students from grades 7 and 8 represented P.A.C.E. at Toronto French School to compete at the French Poetry competition organized by Les Voix de la poésie and were awarded 2nd place. Each student recited gracefully a poem written by famous poets like Victor Hugo and Arthur Rimbaud.

On another note, Ella (grade 7), who represented PACE at the national competition Junior en ligne, has won third place competing against francophone students from all across Canada.

We’re very proud of the achievement and hard work of our students! Congratulations!!

The Art of Trade: Bringing Ancient Egypt to Life
To help students connect Ancient Egypt to their own lives, they explored the art of bartering, trading, and negotiating through our class marketplace. Students traded a variety of goods—including food, clothing, household items, toys, and tools—with the goal of making the fairest and most strategic exchanges possible. Through this hands-on experience, they developed a deeper understanding of how trade functioned in ancient societies while building valuable real-world skills.

Exploring Space Through Code
Students in Grades 6, 7, and 8 were exploring computer science through the lens of real-world space exploration alongside the Artemis II mission.

They examined real challenges that emerged during both Artemis I and Artemis II, and then worked through similar problems themselves. Using Python, students developed their own solutions while following a process closely aligned with those used by NASA and the Canadian Space Agency.

Through this experience, students gained insight into how computer science is applied in cutting-edge research and space missions, while building practical coding and problem-solving skills using one of the most widely used programming languages in science and industry.

As we wrap up this memorable year, we couldn’t be prouder of how much everyone has grown and of the collaboration, perseverance, and care shown throughout our community. We’re excited to carry this same energy into 2026 as we continue our learning journey together!

NOVEMBER+DECEMBER HIGHLIGHTS

Congratulations to our U10 Co-Ed Soccer Team!
Our P.A.C.E. athletes played their hearts out at the SSAF tournament, competing in four exciting games! The team finished strong with a 4–0 victory in the final match and managed to score in every game except one.

Every player contributed impressively, adapting to different positions and showing great teamwork throughout the day. A special shout-out to Ella for her outstanding performance at midfield, and to Chloe and Allan for their solid defensive play!

Although we narrowly missed qualifying—by just one point—it was an incredible day of soccer, sportsmanship, and fun for everyone involved!

Keeping The Ball Rolling: U12 Co-Ed Indoor Soccer Tournament
Our P.A.C.E. athletes competed at the Hangar in four exciting and challenging matches! Throughout the tournament, students worked together tirelessly, showed incredible teamwork, and left their hearts on the field. With a third-place finish in our group, we came very close to advancing to the quarter-finals — a fantastic effort by all!

Tales from the Victorian Era
Our Grade 6 students recently wrapped up their Victorian Era unit with an outstanding culminating project. Each student selected one of three creative pathways:

  • Interview a figure from the Victorian period,
  • Build a model of 1840s London, or
  • Compose a poem from the perspective of someone oppressed during that era.

The results were incredible. Students showcased thoughtful research, strong historical understanding, and impressive creativity—from crafted model streets to compelling narrative voices that brought Victorian hardships to life. We also loved seeing the class fully embrace the spirit of the time in their Victorian-themed outfits! Wonderful work, Grade 6!

Spatial Sense: Measurement
Our Grade 5s put their measurement skills to the test with an Indoor Shape Hunt! After spotting various rectangles, triangles, circles, parallelograms and trapezoids around the classroom and hallway, they worked together to calculate area and perimeter using the formulas learned throughout their unit on Spatial Sense: Measurement. A fun and hands-on way to bring math to life!

3D Modelling
Our Grade 8s have spent the past month diving into the exciting world of 3D modelling! Using Blender—the industry-standard software behind countless animated films and video games (including last year’s Oscar-winning Flow)—students have been exploring professional tools to bring their creativity to life.

They’ve had an absolute blast working on two major projects:

  • A “Minecraft Structure Falling” animation
  • A custom sword-design project, which will evolve into an animated short complete with characters, music, and cinematography after the winter break.

Some incredible student creations are on the way!

Snow Couldn’t Stop The Music!
Despite the heavy snowfall on December 10, our P.A.C.E. Concert Band (led by Mr. de Lara) and P.A.C.E. Choir (led by Ms. Fuller) filled the school with the sounds of the season during our annual Winter Music Festival.

Students and staff came together to sing, listen, and celebrate classic winter holiday favourites—cherishing every musical moment along the way.

Bravo to our talented performers and dedicated staff for keeping this beloved tradition alive!

Dodge, Duck and Dip: P.A.C.E Brought The Heat!
Our dodgeball team ducked, dipped, and delivered blistering throws as they cruised through the round robin and advanced to the SSAF playoffs, powering their way into the semifinals. They wrapped up the day with an impressive third-place finish, proving once again that when it comes to dodgeball, P.A.C.E. knows how to bring the heat.
