THE PACE OF THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE

School is out for the summer! And what a school year we have had – from raising $8,326 for North York General Hospital to a student being featured for an environmental initiative to having a student selected for the Canadian Biology Olympiad (see below) to navigating more virtual learning and so much more! P.A.C.E. students, teachers and parents, we are so proud of your resilience, determination and perseverance! What a successful school year we have had together!ย  Leave a comment below to share your favourite memory with us.ย

Of course we need to acknowledge our amazing group of grads! Congratulations toย  our 2020/2021 graduating class – we are confident as you move forward on your education journey that you will find the success you desire as long as you stay true to yourself! We will miss you but we will be cheering you on in your next venture!

MAY + JUNE HIGHLIGHTS

We kicked off May with our Teacher Appreciation Week, which is nationally celebrated each year during the first full week of May. We are so grateful for our brilliant, resilient faculty at P.A.C.E. We know ourย  students are in good, capable, caring hands! Thank you to all our teachers. We appreciate everything you do!

Our Grade 5 students learned about RECYCLER โ€“ REDUIRE โ€“ REUTILISER! As part of their chapter โ€œEs-tu ecolo?โ€, the students created beautiful and original objects out of recycled materials found around the house and presented them in French.
In their spare time, two of P.A.C.E.โ€™s Grade 12 students, Ethan and David, created a robot to solve the iconic Rubik’s Cube – we had to show you what all the excitement was ‘a-bot’! We are amazed and it’s not easy feat because #didyouknow with six coloured sides, 21 pieces and 54 outer surfaces, there’s a combined total of over 43 QUINTILLIOIN different possible configurations! Thanks Buzzfeed for the fun fact. When posted to our Instagram account this video got over 7,000 views – I guess we arenโ€™t the only ones who found this outstanding (and amazing!).
To end their unit on Greek Mythology, our Grade 3 students created their own class newspaper article! Together, they selected a myth that they had learned about and turned it into a breaking news story. Students detailed the who, what, where, when, why, and how of the story and even added a captioned photo to bring the myth to life. You donโ€™t want to โ€˜mythโ€™ this news!
Our Grade 5 students had a representative from The Community Safety Village of York Regionย join them for Health class, virtually! The students engaged in a workshop on internet safety and appropriate online behaviour.
Our Grade 11 student, Raffaele, has been selected to be one of four members of Team Canada competing in the 2021 Virtual International Biology Olympiad Challenge from July 19-22 based out of Portugal! He was selected based on his performance at the Canadian Biology Olympiadย on Saturday, May 29th. He is one of four in all of Canada who has been asked to represent the country in this prestigious competition. This is a tremendous accomplishmentโ€” we are so proud of your hard work Raffaele!
